Late July and early August were cold and wet, unmelted ice still remained on Lebedinoe lake. Repeated summer snowfalls resulted in establishment of snowcover for a period of up to two days.

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Snowy Owls and Arctic Foxes were not seen.
 

Rodent dynamics:

Counts and focused searches for lemmings in tundra and forest tundra resulted in catching of a single Siberian Lemming. Traces of their activities could also be seen extremaly rare, which all-togather idensifies population situation as a deep depression.
